What bones make up the pelvis or OS Coxae?
Ilium, Ischium, and Pubis
What is the major difference with the adult pelvis and a child pelvis?
-Growth plates havent been fused
-Epipysis is still seen
What are the functions of the pelvic girdle?
- Bear weight of UE
- Distribute forces from lower body
- Attachment sites for muscles of LE needed for locomotion, also abdominal wall
-Protection of the pelvic Viscera - Attachment for pelvic floor musculature
What are the 3 articulations of the Lumbosacral joint?
1 intervertebral joint (L5 and sacrum)
2 Zygopophyseal joints
What nerve(s) innervate the Lumbosacral joint?
For the intervertebral jt.
(between L5 and sacrum): Recurrent Meningeal Nerve
For the 2 Zygopophyseal jts.: Medial Articulating Branch
What nerve(s) innervate the Sacroiliac joint?
-Superior Gluteal Nerve
-Lateral Articulating Branch of the dorsal ramus of L5-S2
What nerve(s) innervate the Acetabulofemoral joint?

What motions does the iliofemoral ligament limit?
(Superior, inferior band and both)
3 motions
-Hyperextension (Both bands)
-Abduction (Inferior band)
-Adduction (Superficial band)
What motions does the Pubofemoral ligaments limit?

What are the ligaments of the hip?
-Joint Capsule (2 layers)
{Superficial longitudinal layer & Deep circular}
-Three thickenings of the superficial capsule:
1) Iliofemoral
2) Pubofemoral
3) Ischiofemoral
What are the three ligaments of the Pubic Symphysis?
-Superior Pubic Ligament
-Interpubic Disc
-Inferior Pubic Ligament
