Gross 2 Femoral Region *Muscles, Nerves and Actions Flashcards
What are the attachments of the Pectinous?
Proximal: Superior ramus of pubis
Distal: Pectineal line of femur, just inferior to lesser trochanter
What nerve innervates the Pectinous?
Femoral Nerve
What are the actions of the Pectinous?
Adducts and flexed thigh; assists with medial (internal) rotation of thigh
What are the attachments for Psoas Major?
Proximal: Sides of T12-L5 vertebrae and discs between them; transverse processes of all lumbar vertebrae
Distal: Lesser trochanter of femur
What nerve innervates the Psoas Major?
Anterior rami of lumbar nerves
What is the action of the Psoas Major?
Act conjointly in flexing thigh at hip joint and in stabilizing this joint
What are the attachments of Psoas Minor?
Proximal: Sides of T12-L1 vertebrae and intervertebral disc
Distal: Pectineal line and iliopubic eminence via iliopectineal arch
What nerve innervates Psoas Minor?
Anterior Rami of lumbar nerves
What are the action of the Psoas Minor?
Act conjointly in flexing thigh at hip joint and in stabilizing this joint
What are the attachments of Iliacus?
Proximal: Iliac crest, iliac fossa, ala of sacrum, and anterior sacro-iliac ligaments
Distal: Tendon of psoas major, lesser trochanter, and the femur distal to it
What nerve innervates Iliacus?
Femoral Nerve
What is the action of the Iliacus?
Act conjointly in flexing thigh at hip joint and in stabilizing this joint
What are the attachments of Sartorius?
Proximal: Anterior superior Iliac spine (ASIS) and superior part of notch inferior to it
Distal: Superior part of medial surface of tibia
What nerve innervates the Sartorius?
Femoral Nerve
What is the action of the Sartorius?
Flexes, Abducts, and laterally rotates thigh at hip joint; flexes leg at knee joint (Medially rotating leg when knee is flexed)
What are the attachments for Rectus Femoris?
Proximal: Anterior Inferior iliac spine (AIIS) and ilium superior to acetabulum
Distal: (Book goes really in depth) Direct attachment to Quadriceps tendon {base of the patella}, indirect attachment to Patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
What nerve innervates the Rectus Femoris?
Femoral Nerve (L2, L3, L4)
What is the action of the Rectus Femoris?
-Extend leg at knee joint
-Also steadies hip joint and helps iliopsoas flex thigh
What are the attachments for Vastus Lateralis?
Proximal: Greater trochanter and lateral lip of linea aspera of femur
Distal: Distal: (Book goes really in depth) Direct attachment to Quadriceps tendon {base of the patella}, indirect attachment to Patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity, Also attaches to tibia and patella via aponeuroses
What nerve innervates Vastus Lateralis?
Femoral Nerve (L2, L3, L4)
