ANTIMUSCARINICS: moa

A
  • Bind to muscarinic receptor where they are a competitive inhibitor of Ach -> PS effects
  • Increase HR + conduction
  • Reduce smooth muscle tone and peristaltic contractions
  • Reduce secretions from glands in (GIT + RESP tract)

A
  • tachycardia
  • dry mouth
  • constipation
  • Urinary rtn in BPH patients (due to detrusor muscle activity)
  • Blurred vision for near objects
  • Drowsiness and confusion in the elderly (atropine)
