A
- prevent conversion of ANGIOTENSIN 1->2
- Ang II is a vasoconstrictor and stimulates ALDOSTERONE secretion
- blocking its action reduces PVR and afterload which lower BPS

ACE INHIBITORS: ADVERSE EFFECTS
A
- Hypotension
- Persistent dry cough (increased levels of bradykinin)
- Hyperkalaemia (low levels of aldosterone promotes pottassium retention)
- Worsen renal failure
- Angiodema
- Anaphylactictoid rxns

- Renal artery stenosis
- AKI
- Pregnant/breast feeding
- CKD

ACE INHIBITORS: INTERACTIONS
A
- Pottassium elevating drugs and Pottassium supplements/sparing diuretics => increased risk of hyperkalaemia
- NSAID => increased risk of renal failure
