A
The activation of a gene to be transcribed into mRNA, which can then be translated into a polypeptide

Regulation of transcription: which genes IN THE GENOME are transcribed into mRNA thus
Regulation of translation: which polypeptides are encoded for

A
Yes all have the same genome
-Except cancer cells which are mutated
-and Red blood cells

Why do some cells become specialised to carry out specific functions
A
Because of control of transcription + translation of the genome
To synthesise specific proteins and therefore carry out specific function
