connective tissue histo Flashcards
Loosely arranged cells and abundant stroma
CT
Embryonic origin of CT
Mesoderm
types of ct proper
Collagenous
Reticular
Elastic
types of collagenous tissue
loose
dense
type of collagenous tissue
> widely distributed
> superficial and deep fascia
> few collagen fibers
loose CT
types of collagenous tissue
> close packing of collagen fibers
DENSE CT
– collagen fibers in bundle randomly oriented
-dermis ,GIT submucosa , capsule of organs, periosteum / perichondrium
a. dense irregular
- fibers oriented in one direction and parallel to each other
- tendons , ligaments , aponeurosis
b. dense regular
> supporting framework of hematopoietic and lymphoid organs
contains reticular fibers ( argyrophillic fibers ) surrounds other tissues and cells i.e. adipose , muscle , basal lamina , endoneurium , stroma of glandular organs
RETICULAR TISSUE
> slender , refractile fibers with elastin
> walls of hollow organs , blood vessels , trachea , bronchi yellow ligaments , suspensory ligaments
Elastic Tissue
Principal cells of the connective tissue
Synthesis of fibers and amorphous ground substance ( GAG )
Fibroblast
> Tissue Phagocytes
- Macrophages ( Histiocytes ) :
CELLS FOR Heat production
Storage of neutral fats
“ Signet ring “ appearance
- Fat cells ( Adipocytes ) :
Type of cells
Infrequent
usually seen in areas of inflammation
produces antibodies
“ cartwheel “ or “ spokewheel “ appearing nucleus
with Inclusion bodies called “ Russell bodies “
- Plasma Cells :
type of cells
With granules containing heparin , histamine , and serotonin .
anaphylactic sensitivity reactions
mast cells
TYPE OF CT FIBER
> most numerous
> most abundant protein in the human body
> with tropocollagen molecules
Collagen fibers :
> Type I collagen
dermis , bone, tendon, fibrocartilage
Type II collagen
hyaline and elastic cartilage
Type III collagen
endomysium, smooth m., liver , spleen, kidney, lung
Type IV collagen
basal lamina
Type V collagen
Fetal membrane , blood vessels
distinctive cell of mucous connective tissue is a primitive fibroblast,
spindle-shaped or stellate.
Wharton’s jelly of the umbilical cord
mucuous CT
large , oval shape , “ signet ring “
appearance
Function : Fat storage
Insulation
Mechanical support
ADIPOSE TISSUE
Types of adipose tissue
Yellow / white
Brown / multilocular
