A
- Two or more consecutive ribs have been fractured in two or more places

A
The flail segment moves in the opposite direction of the rest of the chest when breathing

- Bruise on the lung from blunt force trauma

- A weakened area of the lung. this is how a spontaneous pneumo happens

- Referred to as a sucking chest wound

Define
A
- A pneumo that continues to trap air in the thoracic cavity with no relief or escape

A
- The mediastinum gets compressed and moves over to the uninjured side. this compresses the uninjured lung, heart, and large veins then death
