Matter

7 Main Branches of Chemistry
- Inorganic: non carbon compound
- Organic: compound with carbon & hydrogen.
- Physical: chemical structure on the physical properties of a substance.
- Biochemistry: chemical process in living organisms.

- Theoretical: connecting laboratory observations to molecular behavior, math

Scientific Method

Hypothesis

Theory

Law

Mass vs Weight
Mass is a measurement of the amount of matter something contains, while Weight is the measurement of the pull of gravity on an object.
Model
testable idea… created by the human mind that tells a story about what happens in nature A model is any simplification, substitute or stand-in for what you are actually studying or trying to predict.
Control vs Variable
Variable: Anything that changes in an experiment.Control:

Qualitative vs Quantitative Data
Qualitative: description; quality.
