Since Napoleon was running out of money, he offered the New Orleans and Louisiana Territory to the US.
How much was the Louisiana Purchase, and what did it do for the US?
$15 million, double the size overnight
Who were all the people sent to explore the Louisiana Territory?
Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, Sacagawea, and Zebulon Pike
What did Zebulon Pike discover?
much of the upper Mississippi including Arkansas and Colorado. It charted the mountain named Pikes Peak.
Who were the Essex Junto?
a group of extreme Federalists that wanted to take New England out of the Union
Why were the Essex Junto mad and what did they do?
They didn’t approve of the Louisiana Purchase. They convinced VP Aaron Burr to run for governor of NY.
How did the Essex Junto end?
Burr lost the governor election, challenged Hamilton to a dual, and shot him dead after Hamilton refused to shoot. He was accused of treason, but not found guilty.
This was declared by England and declared that all ships going to Europe needed British licenses and would be searched for contraband.
Orders In Council
How did Napoleon respond to the Orders in Council?
He declared any merchant following British order to have their goods confiscated.
This is basically kidnapping, which is what Britain did to get members for their navy due to few volunteers.

This happened when the British ship Leopard stopped the US ship Chesapeake. Members of the Chesapeake refused to let members of the Leopard on board, so they responded by killing 3 Americans and impressing 4.
