A

They imposed taxes on imported goods, but not all states imposed the duties the same way. This allowed Britain to sell goods to areas with the lowest taxes or restrictions.

A

The government owed a debt to the British and were required to return Loyalists’ land. When this debt wasn’t paid, the British refused to leave US soil.

A

The government was limited in working out diplomatic solution with Spain, so Spain stopped the US from depositing goods in New Orleans. Spain also disputed at the Florida/Georgia border.

This event happened when the Mass. state government raised taxes to pay debt. Farmers who couldn’t pay this debt lost their farms. These farmers, led by Daniel Shays, rebelled by shutting down county courthouses to prevent foreclosures. When they attempted to seize arsenal, the Mass. state militia was called in, which resulted in 4 farmers deaths and the stoppage of this rebellion.
