Consciousness - Definition
The awareness of external stimuli and our own mental activity.
Mind-body-monism (materialism) vs. dualism
Dualism teaches that mind and body are two really distinct principle’s Monism maintains that both mental and corporeal phenomena are merely different manifestations of what is really one and the same reality.

Levels of consciousness
Nonconscious - The level of consciousness at which processes are inaccessible of conscious awareness.
Conscious - The level of consciousness at which mental activities accessible to awareness occur.
Preconscious - The level of consciousness at which mental events are not currently conscious but can become conscious at will.
Unconscious - The term used to describe a level of mental activity said by Freud to contain unacceptable sexual, aggressive, and other impulses of which an individual is unaware.
Blindsight
The conscious experience of blindness, often feeling like they are guessing despite their high level of accuracy.
Priming
Occurs when an individual’s exposure to a specific stimulus influences their response to a subsequent prompt without any awareness of the connection.
Subliminal Messages - Music and Movies
A hideen visual or auditory message that the brain acknowledges or preceives but does not process.
WM
A cognitive system with a limited capacity that can hold information temporarily.
Prosopagnosia
A neurological disorder characterized by the inability to recognize faces.
Anteograde amnesia
A type of memory loss that occurs when you can’t form new memories.
Altered State of Consciousnss
A condition that exists when changes in mental processes are extensive enough to produce noticeable differences in psychological and behavioral functioning
