This is the FFer who set the ladder, after he sets it he follows the search FFer up and becomes a safety recon for the searching member.

A

He suits up gets SCBA on and heads up as soon as ladder is placed. Once at window clears it completely knowing that this could negatively impact the fire.

How can the smoke indicate if the Venting portion of VEIS has made a flow path?

A

If there is a good fire and no smoke, chances are that door is closed

If the smoke conditions is thick, turbid, and pressurized this should indicate that the door is open and your initial vent opening has created a flow path.

A

keep head outside of building, put one shoulder into the side of the window jamb, place the other foot inside and sit onto the sill itself. Now straddling the sill, dip head into building place opposite behind window jamb slide down into room.

What if you find a victim, what should you do?

A

Sound the floor, then isolate, you have to shut the door.

Shut the door then come back and deal with the victim, the door come first.

What I the 6’ metal hook used for during VEIS?

A

If a large victim is found during VEIS the victim can be raised to the windowsill by draping the victim over the shaft. Position so that the torso rest on shaft and legs are to either side of the shaft. The outside member will grab the shoulder and the inside member pulls up on the pole
