Forces the front door as part of the Inside team. Once inside Forceable entry firefighter’s focus becomes search. Irons and Bunny

Role and tools of the Can/Hook FF:
Tools: Water Can and Hook (2.5 gallon & 6’)
Can: The can is to keep the fire in check and extinguish smaller incident fires. If the Can FFer can’t knock down nearly all the fire then, may not be worth trying, work on containment. The Goal as the can/hook FFer is to protect rest of inside team.
Hook: Once the engine has knocked down the fire, the Hook is used to open walls and ceiling in the fire area.

If the fire is beyond the extinguishment capabilities of the can, what technique could the Can FFer use to contain the fire?
Can FFer can try to contain fire by shutting the door and sweeping the top of the door and doorframe with the water stream. This door may need to be replaced if it burns through

What type of hook is preferred for the can/hook FFer and why.
Six foot wooden hook, wood because of electrical hazard and six foot so that you can use your body to pull ceiling without wearing out fast. 8’ is too long and cumbersome.

What are the responsibilities of the inside team of the first in ladder?
Force entry to fire floor
Search for victims /fire origin
Control and confine fire/ coordinated ventilation
Expose hidden fire
FE if needed, Search fire floor for fire (victims if they get in the way), clear path for the engine crew, announce location of fire, horizontal vent if needed.

What are the responsibilities of the 2nd in ladder inside team?
In General their job is to search floors above the fire for victims and fire extension. Coordinate with 1st Ladder to not duplicate efforts.
Same tool assortment with the addition of one more hook for opening ceiling.

If the first arriving ladder/engine can’t make the stairs down to the basement, and an exterior entrance is present what could they elect to do?
Hold the stairs on the first floor, allowing first in ladder to search the first floor and floors above.
It would then be the second in ladder and second hose lines job to extinguish entry, search, and extinguishment

What is the absolute minimum number for any interior firefighting team?
Two FFers, if the ability to add a 3rd FFer to any team they should go to the inside teams.

Modify inside team to two FFers…
Officer (or IC FFer) will now take the irons, bunny tool, and TIC (merge FE and Officer duties).
2nd FFer is Can FFer and that role stays the same.
