Chapter 16 Part 2 Flashcards
(3) Hindbrain consists of
Pons, Cerebrum, Medulla
Midbrain betw. thalamus/hypothalamus of
forebrain/pons of hindbrain; motor movem., auditory process., sleep wake regul.
Forebrain: Diencephalon: made up of
thalamus/hypothalamus; nerve channels pass thru here; respon. for hormones
Largest compont. of brain-
Cerebrum
CNS receives info about env. from…
interoceptors/exteroceptors
Interoceptors-sensory receptors that gather/respond to general
sensations of organs within internal env.
Exteroceptors- gather info from
external env.-touch press., taste, smell, temp, sight, hearing, etc.
(3) Forebrain consists of
Olfactory lobes, Cerebrum, Diencephalon
Forebrain: olfactory lobes-paired club shaped str. present in
anterior part of brain; resp. for sense of smell
Three parts of brain
Forebrain, Midbrain, Hindbrain
Forebrain funct: thinking/ smelling/hearing/seeing; governs..
decision making/memory/perception. manages hunger
Cerebral cortex forms outermost part-makes up
grey matter
Each side consists of four lobes:
Frontal, Parietal, Occipital, Temporal
Cerebrum divided into two hemisph. What bridges two sides?
Corpus callosum
(4) Forebrain helps with
sensory, perception, memory, decision making
