2014: Guillot-Broux: Macon Cruzille Rouge, “Beaumont”
All the Gamay plants on the estate are pruned short, ‘en Cordon en Royat’, to contain the natural vigorous growth of this grape variety. This was one of the first vines to be replanted by our father in 1978 and compose of 1ha on red marl. Aged between 11-18 months in oak. 12.5% Alc
2014: Guillot-Broux: Bourgogne Rouge, “La Myotte”
From the oldest Pinot Noir vineyard, the grafts were acquired from the Côte de Beaune in 1956 to replant this parcel (.65ha) on marl and limestone soils. This is only bottled in excellent vintages. Aged 11-18 months in oak barrels. 12.5% Alc
2015: Guillot-Broux: Macon, “Les Combettes”
Despite the fact that the vineyard “Les Combettes” is contiguous with “Les Genièvrières”, the two wines produced are dramatically different. The vines for this wine come from 1.5ha planted between 1991-1995, on clay-limestone soils with a subsoil of compact blue clay. Aged for 11 months in oak. 13% Alc
2014: Guillot-Broux: Macon-Villages
This is a blend from 3ha of clay-limestone soils, and are composed of small vines and recent plantations situated in the three villages. Aged 6 months in oak barrel, then 3 months in vats. 12.5% Alc
2014: Guillot-Broux: Macon Cruzille, “Les Genièvieres”
This parcel of land had been one of the best of the Mâconnais at the beginning of the 19th century, but was left out of the reclassification of vine-growing land in 1935, having not been cultivated since the phylloxera epidemic. The Domaine started replanting this parcel in 1983 that now comprises of 2.7ha, planted on clay-limestone with deep soil on steep slopes. Aged 11-18 months in oak barrels. 13% Alc
2015: Guillot-Broux: Macon Cruzille, “Les Perrières”
The soils of the Perrières is very difficult to work and very fragile. The vineyard (1.1ha) was abandoned after the phylloxera epidemic for these very reasons. However, the wine produced is wonderfully lively and very mineral. It needs at least two or three years after being bottled to start hinting at its true colors.
Since 2001, the wine has been aged for 18 months in second or third generation oak barrels without either fining or filtering. 13% Alc
