the determination of teh cause of disease.

differential diagnosis
the determination of possible causes of diseases; a list of possible causes of the disease

chronic
having a long course with a progressive onset; persisting for a long time
epidemic
the sudden and widespread outbreak of disease in a group; also called epizootic if the outbreak attacks many animals in a group; called episodic if the outbreak occurs sporadically
prognosis
the prediction of the outcome of the disease
syndrome
the set of signs that occur together
remission
the partial or complete disappearance of disease signs
pandemic
a disease outbreak occuring over a large geographic area; also called panzootic if the widespread outbreak affects many animals over a large geographic area.
