Which forcible felonies are authorized to conduct a level two pursuit?
Treason, murder, manslaughter, sexual battery, carjacking, home invasion, robbery, robbery, burglary, arson, kidnapping, aggravated, assault aggravated, battery, aggravated stalking aircraft privacy, unlawful, throwing placing or discharging of a destructive device or palm, stolen vehicles, which involve the theft of firearms and any other felony which involves the use or threat of physical force or violence against an individual
Burglary shall not include vehicle burglary, unless firearms are believed to have been stolen during the crime
What constitutes a level one pursuit
Level one pursuits our vehicle pursuits that occur at or below posted speed limits, and are not presenting an immediate or life-threatening danger to the public sworn members or the suspect
When can a sworn member engage in a level two vehicle pursuit?
When the fleeing suspect poses an immediate danger to the public at large prior to the suspects perceived awareness of the presence of law-enforcement
The fleein suspect is believed to have committed a qualifying forcible felony
What information should these small member provide when initiating a vehicle pursuit?
The sworn member should immediately notify the communications unit of the vehicle pursuit, providing location and direction of travel, description of the vehicle, tag number, occupants, and reason for the vehicle pursuit
When may a storm member use a stationary block, discharge a firearm at a vehicle, or intentionally ram a suspect vehicle at high speeds?
When the sworn member reasonably believes that the immediate use of deadly force is justified or when expressed authorization is given by a superior.
What are the responsibilities of the road supervisor during a pursuit?
Immediately take command control of the vehicle pursuit
Overall responsibility for the decision to continue or discontinue the vehicle pursuit
Be in command of the vehicle pursuit tactics
Constantly evaluate all factors to continue or discontinue the vehicle pursuit
When can a sword member continue a pursuit into another county leaving Martin County
Sworn members engaged in a vehicle pursuit that leaves Martin County may continue the vehicle pursuit with the approval of the supervisor in command
When shall a sworn member terminate a vehicle pursuit?
When the danger involved in the vehicle pursuit is greater than the value of apprehending the suspect
When directed to do so by Supervisor
Visual contact is lost for an extended period of time approximately 15 seconds
Other extenuating circumstances
A vehicle pursuit that was initiated as a level one vehicle pursuit no longer meets the criteria

Tactical parking
Vehicle immobilization tactics
Pursuit intervention technique
Channelization
Tire deflation devices
When should a standard report be completed for a pursuit?
A supervisor shall complete a standard report for every incident in which a vehicle fleas in a manner characteristic of the offensive fleeing and attempting to allude a law-enforcement officer, even if there is no apprehension nor an attempt to conduct a traffic stop.
