What is a casualty collection point?
A temporary law-enforcement secured location where victims can be quickly and safely assembled, triage, and treated until a formal treatment area is created, and it is feasible to move the patients to it.
What are the operational zones in an active assailant event?
Cold zone – no threat level – law-enforcement as designated as secure. Ideally, unified command, patient triage, treatment, and transport are organized and located in this zone.
Warm zone – moderate threat level – area not completely cleared. Law-enforcement is present with medical personnel. Requires law-enforcement protection for fire rescue units to enter.
Hot zone – high threat level – active combat.
What is a rescue task force?
A rapid medical response team that operates in the warm zone under the protection of law-enforcement officers. These teams are rapidly assessed at stabilize, major trauma, primarily hemorrhage, and extricate the injured. Ideally, the teams are composed of four fire rescue personnel and four law-enforcement officers.
What is a reunification post?
A post established for parents and relatives to await the rescue and debriefing of victims involved in the incident. The district security of this post will be maintained by certified law-enforcement personnel. At no time will members of the media be allowed in, or near, this area.
What is the most important purpose of law-enforcement?
The protection of human life.
How often will members complete response to AAE training?
Annually
Who is responsible for determining if the incident requires an active assailant type response or other law-enforcement action?

When a solo sworn member or contact team deploys in an AAE what is the only goal?
Movement to complete threat suppression by any means necessary

Between the warm zone and the cold zone prohibiting access into the warm zone.

The exterior perimeter should encompass the operational zones field command, post triage, post, and reunification post.
