Explain how football was rationalised post WWll
NGBs ensured the sport and its leagues and competitions were more organised. Professionals also earned large sums of money to play via their contracts
Explain how tennis was rationalised post WWll
The hourglass shaped court was replaced. The sport turned professional when it was introduced at Wimbledon where women were allowed to compete where stereotypes had been overcome. They even get paid the same
Explain how athletics was rationalised post WWll
Purpose built tracks were built to facilitate the growing numbers of participants and spectators. All classes and both men and women could compete
Explain the effects of commercialisation on sport
Much more broadcasting which gives role models more attention which leads to growth at grassroot level. Players get paid much more on their contracts. However due to sponsorships there are much more breaks in play to display their products having a negative impact on the viewers
Explain the effects of social media on sport
Role models are given more attention through the platform social media provides. They use this to promote products and brands in deals bringing in more money and viewers. However having deals can have a detrimental effect on athletes due to the pressure they have to perform
