Informative, Demonstrative, Persuasive, Entertaining
Solid information, less emotion and talks about people, events, places and their information
Informative
Convinces the listeners to support the speaker’s arguments. Influences the emotion, thinking, and behavior of the listeners
Persuasive
Arouses the emotions of the listeners, it makes people happy and filled with emotions.
Entertaining
Alike to the informative speech that gives information, but this type of speech presents a how-to-do demonstration
Demonstrative
Types of Speech accdg. to delivery
Manuscript, Memorized, Impromptu, Extemporaneous Speech
delivered by reading a text from a script, typically used when the time is limited
Manuscript Speech
The speaker is committed to the speech in memory, no notes, and used when the time is not limited
Memorized Speech
Speech that is delivered with little to no time for preparation. Usual modest expectation in this speech are: listening, brainstorming, analyzing, buying time and not rushing to speak
Impromptu Speech
Planned and prepared speech, delivered with the help of little notes and clear outline
(emcee for an event)
Extemporaneous Speech
The branch of linguistics that studies and interprets message based on style and tone
Stylistics
This refers as to something that makes a person unique
Style
The unique way that a speaker delivers its message to the audience

patterns of speaking characterized by distinctive pronunciation

Different Speech Style
Intimate, Casual, Consultative, Formal, Frozen
used between people with a very close relationship, it shares experiential knowledge in common, does not care about grammar, or pronunciation, may employ a lot of sentence fragments and broken speech
Intimate
Conversational way of talking among friends
Uses a lot of trendy words or phrases. speaks in incomplete sentences (slangs), not conscious about grammar, pronunciation or choice of words
Casual
speaks in complete sentence to avoid misunderstandings, correct pronunciation and choice of words. communicators have different social position, speaker constantly observes the listeners verbal and non-verbal cues for feedback.
Consultative
Speaking in a formal setting, language spoken is in formal style, speaker prepares in advance so that the content is logically organized and structure is polished. choice of words is predisposed to the standard language. cohesion devices interconnects sentences and paragraphs
Formal
rendering of utterance is monotone and formal, the speech style is filled with allusions and rich lexicon. often seen in formal ceremonies, rituals (weddings, baptism) very formal style of speech, and lacks participation and feedback from the receiver
Frozen
the way or the style the speaker delivers his speech
