104.16 (week 3) EMERGENCY EVACUATION Flashcards
When the need to evacuate a structure or hazardous area arises:
- Command shall announce EMERGENCY TRAFFIC FOR EVACUATION and order the evacuation
- Dispatch shall broadcast the high-low tone and announce EMERGENCY TRAFFIC FOR __________ COMMAND, EVACUATE THE BUILDING.
The Evacuation Signal
- Shall consist of repeated short blasts of air horn for 10 second followed by 10 seconds of silence
- Air horn blasts performed 3 times; total air horn evacuation signal time + periods of rest = 50 seconds
- Command shall designate a specific apparatus to sound evacuation signal
- Evacuation signal shall be given via SEMS unit
- All personnel shall evacuate and report to their assigned Company Officer.
After evacuation signal is sounded, command shall conduct a what?

Company Officers shall give PAR of their company
What happens if personnel are unaccounted for after an evacuation was called?
All unnecessary operations will stop and a RIC team shall be activated with the last known location and assignment of said personnel.
What will NOT be announced over radio if there is missing personnel in a fire after an evacuation?
The missing members name. Their apparatus/unit assignment will be used if necessary
Command shall conduct an emergency incident Roll Call using the Personal Accountability System (PAS) under the following circumstances:
- Upon receiving a MAYDAY
- Significant incident occurred
- When operational mode changes from offensive to defensive, prior to starting defensive tactics.
- Command determines need.
