  2. Discuss backing plan with driver before proceeding
  3. Equipped with and utilize a portable radio to order and direct the driver

  5. Complete 360 survey around apparatus and backing area.
  6. Communicate any hazards to driver
  7. Position selves at rear drivers side of vehicle
  8. Clear understanding of backing plan
  9. Maintain constant visual and verbal contact w/ driver in drivers side mirror
  10. Knowledge of hand signals
  11. IMMEDIATELY STOP driver when hazards become noticeable or uncertain of action, direction, or maneuvers the driver is taking
  12. When night backing: a flashlight shall be carried, but never directed toward drivers side view mirrors

Place both arms pointing the same direction with index fingers extended. Drivers intentions must be verbally communicated to the spotter.

Face palms forward, hands above head. Bring elbows forward and hands together as the unit begins to reach its stopping point.
