18
Q

Level 2 decontamination

A

After brushing, using a light pressured (<15 psi) fog pattern water stream to rinse the exterior of the gear. High pressure causes increased imbedding of particulate.

19
Q

Level 3 decontamination

A

After brushing, before water is added, spot clean any heavily stained areas of the garment with department approved cleaner.

This gear will be transported in an outside compartment or bagged.

This gear will be washed in a WPBFD extractor machine and dried prior to being placed back in service.

20
Q

Level 4 decontamination

A

Gear will be bagged at the scene, for transportation, or as soon as possible to prevent contaminating other surfaces and and turned into logistics to be sent out for contract cleaning.

21
Q

Full personal protective equipment

A

Helmet
Bunker coat
Nomex hood
Bunker pants
Boots
Gloves
Suspenders
Mask
Self contained breathing apparatus

22
Q

Hazardous atmosphere

A

Any atmosphere, either immediately or not immediately dangerous to life or health, which is oxygen deficient or which contains a toxic or disease-producing contaminant.

23
Q

Overhaul

A

The portion of fire extinguishment involving discovery of hidden fires or smoldering materials.

24
Q

Guidelines at the fire station

A
  1. Always have a 2nd set of uniforms on hand for your tours of duty.
  2. Do not idle or run vehicles in apparatus bays unless leaving or returning from station
  3. Do not run internal combustion engines in bays. Ensure the proper use of diesel exhaust containment/scrub systems in stations equipped with these systems.
  4. Ensure the proper sealing and closure of doors leading to living areas of the station.
  5. Keep bunker gear (PPE) out of living areas of all facilities
  6. Wash hands thoroughly after running/ checking/ cleaning tools and equipment. Use medical cloves if unable to wash hands
25
Q

At the fire guidelines

A

1 wear full ensemble of PPE and SCBA properly when operating within 20 feet of any IDLH atmosphere
(This includes wearing the hood, deploying ear flaps, extending the collar fully, and making sure that the interface areas are properly secured with sufficient overlap.)

  1. Use SCBA from the initial attack through the completion of overhaul.
  2. Do not rely on multi gas detectors to determine PPE/SCBA donning and doffing.
26
Q

Any bunker gear or equipment that is identified as contaminated as class 3 or higher will be…..

A

Transported in an outside compartment of the apparatus

27
Q

Any bunker gear or ppe that is contaminated class 3 or higher that MUST be transported in the passenger compartment of the apparatus will be what?

A

Bagged at the scene prior to leaving using department approved bags (at least 2 mil thickness).

28
Q

The bag opening for bunker gear will be _________ and _________ closed, then “________-________”

A

Twisted
Taped
“Goose-necked”

29
Q

The bagging of ppe of class 3 or higher will prevent what?

A

Off-gassing to occur into the apparatus cab while traveling.

30
Q

What should be used to facilitate a cleaner process when cleaning non ppe equipment?

A

Soft bristle brushes

31
Q

Radios and other sensitive electronic equipment shall be cleaned how……

A

Wiped, not submerged, with a damp cloth, water, and department approved cleaner

32
Q

_________ _______ and ________ ________ shall be worn during the cleaning of equipment.

A

Medical gloves and eye protection.

33
Q

Personnel shall decontaminate before reporting to _________.

A

Rehab

34
Q

At minimum, personnel must wash hands and face before _______ or ___________ to prevent ingestion of particulates

A

Eating or drinking

35
Q

A gross-decontamination of PPE for all personnel working in an IDLH atmosphere will be done where?

A

Attack engine if possible or at the closest suitable apparatus near the fire, to limit runoff area.

36
Q

Perform personal decontamination by utilizing what?

A

Department provided equipment

37
Q

With provided cloth towels and approved soap solution, be sure to wash where?

A

Around your face, ears, neck, and jaw areas

38
Q

A

“Shower within an hour”

39
Q

The _________ ________ will coordinate the rotation of units to be out of service for _________.

A

41
Q

If the gear becomes contaminated with oil, biohazard, etc follow policy for

A

Gear replacement and professional cleaning

42
Q

Helmets and SCBA face pieces shall be cleaned with

A

Mild soap and water and helmet liners shall be removed and laundered at station

43
Q

All personnel who have actively worked in or around IDLS atmosphere on any type of incident and have had to perform gross/self decontamination, will be required to complete a ___________ ________ to document an _________ to products of combustion and/or hazardous materials.

A

Exposure form
Exposed

44
Q

Narrative to exposure form may read:

A

“Exposed to products of combustion in IDLH while performing interior firefighting operations.”
