Absent without Official Leave (AWOL):
Unpaid time when absent without approved leave.
What happens if personnel go awol?
Subject to disciplinary action for the absence.

Earned by the conversion of sick leave. This conversion takes place when personnel reach the maximum level accumulation for sick time and is converted as a bonus for using sick time as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
Emergency Absence (EA):
Available for an unforeseen emergency (not for employee or immediate family illness/injury) Emergensy Absence will not be counted as time worked and will be deducted from leave other than sick leave.
