  • Especially useful for heat related emergencies, hypovolemia, freshwater drowning & diabetic ketoacidosis
  • Monitor pt to determine if fluid overload is developing

  • Refer to Pediatric Drug Guide/Current AHA PALS Guidelines/PEPP Guidelines
  • 20 ml/kg initial bolus in shock: 20 ml/kg/hr maximum maintenance dosage
  • Use of Volutrol or similar tubing is recommended
