Manual workers who very strongly identified with each other due to the dangerous and low pay nature of Job (often hold similar political opinions)

How does workplace reinforce the identity of the working class?
- Occupation may be the dominant source of your identity
- For boys and their fathers, manual labour job was their identity (Willis)

How does education reinforce the identity of the working class?
- Hidden curriculum
- Education is used to reproduce and maintain the class inequalities of wealth or power (Bowles and gintis)
- Done by transmitting ruling class values disguised as common values
- Education designed for ruling class by ruling class and teaches to be obedient in future work (Bowles and gintis)

- Lower social classes use it as a form of entertainment whereas upper classes use to expand their knowledge
