A
- Free living and captive animal
- species typically lives in wild without human intervention
- not domesticated species

- Protected under the animal welfare act
- Vertebrate animals other than man: commonly domesticated in British isles, under control of man permanently or temporarily, not living in wild state
- Exclusions = scientific procedures, shooting and fishing
