Week 9 - Lesson 1 (Part 2) Flashcards
Where do anterior tibial veins arise from?
From the arch and accompany the anterior tibial artery
Where does the anterior tibial vein travel?
Rise up the calf from the anterior compartment and course between the tibia and fibula
What veins unite to form a singular anterior tibial trunk?
.
What does the artery trunk unite with to form the popliteal vein?
Posterior tibial-peroneal trunk
Where does the posterior tibial vein arise from?
The arch
Where does the posterior tibial vein course?
Coursing posterior to the tibia
Where does the posterior tibial vein rise up from to form?
Up the calf to form common tibial trunk
Where does the peroneal vein arise from compared to the lateral malleolus of the ankle?
Medial
What does the peroneal vein follow?
The medial surface of fibula, then course medially to form the common peroneal trunk in upper third of calf
What 2 things converge to form the tibioperoneal trunk?
- Common tibial trunk
2. Common peroneal trunk
What drains the soleus and gastrocnemius muscles?
Soleal sinuses and gastrocnemius veins
Are the soleal sinuses and gastrocnemius veins superficial or deep?
Deep
What does the gastrocnemius veins join up with before dumping into the popliteal vein?
Common trunk
What is unique about the soleus sinus? (2)
- It doesnt have arteries to accompany them
2. Capable of enlarging and drain into the posterior tibial and peroneal veins
What does venous sinuses act as?
A reservoir and are an important part of the calf muscle pump
