Pathology of N. Gonorrhoea

A
  • pili attach to mucosal cells of the urethra and vagina
  • evades mucosal IgA antibodies via IgA protease
  • endocytosed by cells
  • kills cilitaed cells
  • cal also invade submucosa and enter bloodstream, where it can collect in synovial fluid causing septic arthritis
