What’s the difference between an AIRMET and a SIGMET?
AIRMETs are for moderate conditions, affecting small aircraft. SIGMETs are for severe conditions, affecting all aircraft.
What’s the difference between a SIGMET and a Convective SIGMET?
Convective SIGMETS deal with thunderstorms.
How often do TAFs come out?
Issued 4 times a day.
What are PIREPS?
Reports given to FSS or ATC during flight.
What are NOTAMs? What kinds of information would they be about?
Notice to Air Missions - a method of transmitting important info to all pilots. NOTAMs can be issued about airport closures, airport construction, airport lighting issues, temporary airspace restrictions, airshows, tower light outages, etc.
