What is purpose of flight service?
To provide advice and information useful for the safe and efficient conduct of flights
What are the four elements that affect an aircraft’s performance?
Wind(moving air), pressure(force exerted on a surface), temperature(measure of hotness or coldness), visibility (the distance at which an object or light can be clearly discerned)
What critical roles does wind play a factor in?
Wind plays a critical role in aviation for takeoff and landing, fuel efficiency and flight planning and safety.
What are types of pressure reading?
QNH - altitude above msl
QFE - altitude relative to aerodrome elevation
QNE - altitude relative to standard pressure
What is visibility?
The measure of distance at which an object or light can be clearly discerned. It depends on transparency of surrounding air.
What is visibility estimation?
It is to look for landmarks at known distances from the airport as viewed at eye level by an observer on the ground.
What is horizontal visibility ?
A measure of how far away you can see a black object during the daytime or a bright light at night.
Runway visual range
Indicates how far in meters or feet a pilot can see horizontally along the runway center line.
What is primary runway in wet and dry season?
Runway 06 in wet season because of predominantly east to north eastern my winds.
Runway 24 in dry season because of predominantly north to northwesterly winds.
