What is the purpose of the airport emergency plan?
The purpose of the airport emergency plan is to ensure that there is:
a) Orderly and efficienct transition from normal to emergency operations
b) Elimination of Confusion and duplication of effort during emergencies
c) Coordination of efforts to cope with the emergency
What is ALERT 1 - Local Standby?
Any event involving an aircraft when the operation of the said aircraft is other than normal is considered local standby.
When are alert 1 procedures to be initiated?
Alert 1 procedures are to be initiated when an aircraft in flight has, or is suspected to have, a defect which would not normally endanger the landing.
What should be done in the event of ALert1?
The most senior air traffic control officer on duty in the tower shall notify the airport fire services.
Air traffic services shall immediately inform crash rescue chief or supervisor.
What information shall ATC provide in event of ALERT 1?
1) Runway in use
2) Type of aircraft
3) Fuel on Board
4) Number of Occupants including handicapped, immobilized, blind, deaf
5) Nature of the Incident
6) Estimated Time of Landing
7) Known dangerous goods on board, inclusing quantity and location if any
8) Aircraft Operator if appropriate
What is Alert 2?
Potential emergency requiring immediate dispatch of emergency equipment to standby positions on the airport (aircraft has fire on board, faulty landing gear, no hydraulic pressure, etc)
What actions should be taken by ATS in Alert 2?
-Initiate 3 short blasts on klaxon
-Initiate communication with crash rescue
1) Runway in use
2) Type of aircraft
3) Fuel on Board
4) Number of Occupants including handicapped, immobilized, blind, deaf
5) Nature of the Incident
6) Estimated Time of Landing
7) Known dangerous goods on board, inclusing quantity and location if any
8) Aircraft Operator if appropriate
9) Wind Direction and Speed
What is alert 3?
An accident has occurred or an accident is imminent requiring immediate dispatch of emergency equipment to the scene.
