A

- raised
- cauliflower surface

What are Verrucae (plantar warts)
A
- flat on sole of feet
- black dots on middle (capillaries)
- can be painful if on weight bearing part on foot
- usually disappears within within 6 months to 2 years

Referral for warts and verrucae
A
- multiple warts
- facial warts
- anogenital warts
- diabetic patients
- immunocompromised patient
- itching/bleeding warts
- change in size and appearance of warts
- OTC failure for >3 months

OTC treatment: Salicylic Acid

OTC treatment: Cryotherapy

- freezes warts and varrucae, comes off in 10 days

not first line, useful in resistant cases

A
- take up to 12 weeks to disappear
- takes steps to prevent spreading to others

How to apply Salicylic Acid products
A
- first soak affected area in warm water for 5 mins to soften it
- Apply daily, protect healthy skin (use vaseline)
- Remove dead skin every week (use pumice stone to remove dead skin)
