Symptoms of Slapped Cheek
A
- Bright red rash on cheeks
- Light pink, lace like, itchy rash of trunk
- Initial cold and flu

What is the most contagious period of slapped cheek
A
The initial cold and flew period before the rash
Fever sore throat and headache

Referral criteria of sapped cheek
A
- Exposed patient groups (pregnant women) (can cause miscarriage/stillbirth)
- Blood disorders (sickle cell)
- Symptoms of fever anaemia
(fainting, severe shortness of breath, pale skin, tiredness)

OTC symptomatic treatment
A
- Paracetamol / ibuprofen (for hayfever and headaches)
- Antihistamines
(eases itchy rash) (piriton)

Slapped Cheek advice
A
- rest and plenty of fluids
- Once rash appears it is no longer contagious
