VPN Flashcards
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Extends a private network across a public network and enables sending and receiving data across shared or public networks
Site to Site VPN
Used to connect two sites. All the traffic that goes back and forth from the sites will be encrypted and secured
Client to Site
Connection goes from client to to router. Allows a remote user to connect to the head office.
Full Tunnel VPN
Routes and encrypts all networks requests through the VPN connection back to the headquarters. Since you’re fully connected to the headquarters, you cant use personal equipment from home (printing from your home printing as it is not connected to the headquarter locations)
Split Tunnel VPN
Routes and encrypts only the traffic bound for the headquarters over the VPN, and sends the rest of the traffic to the regular internet. Provides less security but better performance.
Clientless VPN
Creates a secure remote-access VPN tunnel using a web browser without requiring a software or hardware client
