Troubleshooting Networks - Wireless Connectivity Issues Flashcards
Intermittent Wireless Connectivity
Connected or disconnected network
Signal interference
Signal issues
Other devices operating in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency can cause issues
Channels 1, 6, and 11 spread out the network and avoid interference in the wireless b, g, or n spectrums
Wireless a, n, ac, and ax are less prone to signal interreference
Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI)
Used to measure the signal strength based on an index level and gives a value in decibels (dB).
RSSI is displayed in negative decibels. Lower number is better
Solutions include:
Increase the power of transmission
Increase the antenna size
Move closer to the source
Wireless a, n, ac, and ax
Operated in 5 GHz
Wireless b, g, or n
Operates in 2.4 GHz
IMPORTANT! understand…
What frequency is being used?
What is the maximum speed of that frequency?
Which versions of wireless networking are being used?
