What are the main versions of Thunderbolt?
Thunderbolt 1 and 2
- Uses a physical connector that’s backwards compatible with DisplayPort, looks the same as a DP but has a lightning bolt next to it
Thunderbolt 3
- Physical Interface uses the same port connector as a USB-C (fully compatible with USB-C)
-All thunderbolt 3 supports USB-C but not all USB-C support thunderbolt 3
What are the lenght limitations of thunderbolt?
Version 3 = 1.6 ft, which provides up to 40Gbps. Because of this the cable is often used for storage devices.
