Urogenital Triangle Flashcards
What is the fascia like in the urogenital triangle?
Fatty and membranous
What is the fatty layer of fascia called?
Campers
What is the membranous layer of fascia called?
Scarpa’s
What is the campers fascia continuous with?
The ischiorectal fossa and thigh
In the males what is scrotum fascia replaced by?
Dartos smooth muscle
What is the membranous fascia attached to?
Posterior border of urogenital diaphragm, also labia/scrotum
What is the inferior layer of fascia?
Perineal membrane
Describe the superior layer of fascia?
Deep, blends with perineal body and membrane
Describe the inferior layer of fascia?
Superficial and called the perineal membrane
What happens to the layers of fascia?
Fuse anteriorly leaving a small gap near pubic symphysis
What posterior layers fuse?
Membranous superficial fascia and the perineal body
What is the space between the layers of the urogenital membrane called?
Deep perineal pouch
Where is the deep perineal pouch?
Between the fascial layers of the urogenital diaphragm
What supplies the deep perineal pouch?
Pudendal nerve
In males the deep perineal pouch contains?
Membranous urethra, dorsal nerves of penis, bulbourethral glands and penile arteries
In females, what does the deep perineal pouch contain?
Vagina, dorsal nerves of clitoris
What is within the superficial perineal pouch?
Structures between the perineal membrane and the skin
What are the muscles involved in the superficial perineal pouch?
Ischiocavernosus, bulbospongiosus, superficial transverse perineal
What is composed of erectile tissue?
Crura, bulb of vestibule (female) and bulb of penis (male)
Describe the perineal body?
Small fibrous structure
Where is the perineal body located?
Posterior margin of the urogenital diaphragm
What attach to the perineal body?
External anal Sphincter, bulbospongiosus, superficial transverse perineal muscles
How many corpus cavernosus muscles?
Two
How many corpus spongiosum muscles?
One
What is the corpus cavernosus and extension of?
Crura
What is the corpus spongiosum and extension of?
bulb
What are the 4 parts of the male urethra?
Pre-prostatic, prostatic, membranous and penile (spongy)
