A

Another way that government agencies affect healthcare is by regulating the health professions, from doctors to home health aides. There are state, local, and national standards for healthcare, provided by different agencies. Hospitals and doctor’s offices must follow rules set by the federal government, the state, and sometimes the local government too. In addition, there are regulations on health science research, including rules about how to test new treatments and drugs. Overall, the health system relies on the government for funding, for oversight, and to help many parts of the population access healthcare.

19
Q

How does private health insureance work?

A

People will buy a health insurance plan that will pay for certain types of care, from doctors’ appointments to emergency care. Many people get their health insurance through their employers, who may pay part of the cost.

20
Q

What is premium in health science

A

Other people buy insurance themselves, paying a monthly premium, or amount an insurance company charges for health coverage for an individual or family. This creates a big pool of people, most of whom are relatively healthy. This big pool of money is then used to pay all or part of the cost of medical care for the people with that insurance plan. Having a mix of healthier and sicker people in the plan means that the company can afford to pay when any individual needs expensive care.
