Unit 1.2 Flashcards
What are base units?
Base units are the base for a unit of measurement.
What are metric prefixes?
Metric prefixes are a unit prefix that precedes a basic unit of measure to indicate the unit.
What is the relationship between metric prefixes and base units?
A metric prefix goes in front of a base unit to show what unit of measurement it is.
How do you find median?
Put all the numbers in a line biggest to smallest and find the middle number.
What is the difference between mass and volume?
Mass is the amount of matter in a given object and volume is how much space a object takes up.
How do you find mean?
Add up all the numbers, then divide by the amount of numbers there are.
What is the difference between mean and median?
Mean is the average, median is the middle number
How do you find standard deviation?
First you find the mean. Then find the difference of each data point from the mean. Next square each difference, then average the result.
What axis is the independent variable on?
X-axis
What axis is the dependent variable on?
Y-axis
What is the difference between the dependent variable and the independent variable?
The independent variable is what you are changing in an experiment. The dependent variable is what you are studying.
What is mass?
Mass is the amount of matter in an object.
What is volume?
