Q

What are more risk factors for teen violence?

A
  • Bullying: Some victims feel tormented but some direct their violence outward and retaliate in a violent way.
  • Gangs: Take part in bad stuff like vandalism while recruiting young people, since their sentences are less harsh. They also feel like that’s the only place for them.
  • Guns and other weapons: They make fights more violent, with 1 person dying from gunshots every 17 minutes, and firearm injury being the 2nd cause of death in 15-24 year olds. Put safety locks on guns, keep them unloaded, and take classes to be safe.
  • Alcohol and drugs: People who are desperate and in need do violent things, and underage drinking is a big problem. They also majorly impair judgment.

A

Outdoors: do not walk alone at night, avoid poorly lit streets, do not carry a firearm or other weapon
