What is the competency of leads and its parts?

A

a) It means to guide others towards goals, motivate them, and help them succeed.

  • leads others: Lead with positive intentions and recognize different levels of followership for different levels of understanding, know what motivates their team/how to explain it, take responsibility for actions, and have concern for welfare of the team members.
  • builds trust: Have confidence in others and develop relationships, be firm/give them a reason to trust you, take direct action to find things in common/bond, create a climate of trust, and be positive and open with goals/work.
  • extends influence beyond chain of command: Be a leader out of JROTC in other parts of your life, like school or with your friends, and you can still indirectly lead without having a position.
  • leads by example: Be a role model/maintain standards through actions and show you have standards for yourself/dedication/morals, commit to the team and push through struggles, show self-control/confidence and encourage others, and make logical decisions while being open to new ideas from all people.
  • communicates: Build your team/mentor others, listen to the verbal/non-verbal communication from your team, use eye contact, make sure all people understand the goals and correct their misunderstandings/mistakes, be aware of how you communicate to your team, and make it positive/engaging/respectful.

What is the competency of develops and its parts?

A

a) It means to leave an organization better than before and develop your people and team.

  • creates a positive environment/fosters esprit de corps: Reach potential/grow your team in an environment where they can make mistakes, encourage team to take initiative/responsibility, show concern for how team members did on tasks, encourage teamwork to build trust, give equal opportunities to all/no favoritism, provide clear expectations and an environment filled with success and hard work.
  • prepares self: Take care of yourself as a leader, retain info about all projects and have good interpersonal skills for efficiency in team, make procedures based on what is already known, be aware of the different backgrounds/experiences for learning opportunities, learn from mistakes, and evaluate strengths/weaknesses of yourself.
  • develops others: It is the deliberate process of monitoring followers in different situations to provide accurate challenges, advise them to grow from experiences, have no barrier to development but have constant growth, and have realistic assignments to build skill with training/feedback.
  • stewards the profession: Take care of/show the mission and values with a mindset that has cooperative planning, and support the program/get others to see the benefits.

a) It is getting all goals done at high standards.

  • gets results: Communicate priorities and match the members to appropriate tasks, keep track of all people and have positive conflict resolution, reward good work and tell them that they did well, improve everybody with constructive feedback, keep the team informed and make changes if needed.
