Ethics
Rules of conduct that people should follow.
Moral
A person’s standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable for them to do.
Psychology
The study of mind and behavior.
Conscience
The awareness of a desire to act properly when improper acts are committed or intended.
Integrity
Being honest and sincere with ourselves and with others; closely following a consistent code of ethics.
Philosophy
The study of people’s most fundamental and basic beliefs and how these beliefs are justified.
What are effective leader qualities?

- Determining best course of action for a situation based on their own beliefs, values, background

Explain telephone courtesies and how you can act properly.
When calling to RSVP, call between 9-6 (no meal hours), maybe offer to call later, and let the phone ring at least 6 times for them to answer. Also, identify yourself, apologize to wrong numbers, and leave name when giving messages and maybe number to call back.
- Be polite in any conversation.
- Speak slowly and clearly.
- No sneezing/coughing into receiver.
- Do not talk to anybody else while you’re on the phone.
- Call back soon if you get disconnected/hang up.
- When calling for someone else, say, “May I ask who is calling?” instead of “Who is this?”

Explain cellular phone courtesies and how you can act properly.
- Don’t use phones at school/school events.
- Don’t use phones during social gatherings.
- Don’t place/make/receive phone during meals.
- Don’t use phone while driving.
- Don’t use a phone when it will inconvenience others.
- Use should be limited in public places to emergency.
Explain helping others and how you can act properly.
Give elderly people your arm when helping them but if you need to, use your hand palm-up then withdraw it when done. Have the man walk on the curbside with a lady or on her left if there is no curb, and have the gentleman open the door for lady and others. Also, open car for guest and then go in yourself to go in and out.
Explain being responsible for your guests and how you can act properly.
Inform guests of traditions, wear, and customs when at a social event, and make sure they have an escort if it isn’t you.
Explain respect to seniors and how you can act properly.
Respect seniors and teachers and use proper language (no slang). Also, do not call a senior by their first name unless they give you permission to do so.
Explain grooming and how you can act properly.
Be certain you are well groomed in every way and remember that you don’t have a second chance to make a first impression. Also, make sure a senior person doesn’t have to remind you about your hygiene.
- Ensure hair is clean, trimmed, and combed.
- Shower/deodorant every day.
- Brush/floss daily (usually after meals).
- Shave if necessary once or twice a day.
What are some questions that can help you make right choices?
- Would I do this if I knew I would have to explain my reasons to my family?
- Would I be content to have each of my followers behave exactly as I intend to in this situation?
