describe the production of blood cells in the skeleton
blood cells are created in bone marrow that is located inside the long bones

the skeleton can kepp important things such as calcium iron and zinc until the body needs them

bones are attached to muscles by tendons. when the muscles contract it pulls a tendon which then pulls the bone
how does the skeleton provide support?
the skeleton provides a framework for the bodies softer tissue
how does the skeleton provide protection?
flat bones provide a strong large surface area to prevent vital organs from being damaged
how does the skeleton help with posture?
the skeleton helps to keep the body upright and helps to maintain its shape
what is the axial skeleton?
-the central part of the skeleton
-main support
-cranium, veterbrae, ribs, sternum
what is the appendicular skeleton?
-the rest of the bones (apart from the axial skeleton)
-includes the arms and legs]
-also includes joints connected to the axial skeleton
-pelvis, radius, ulna
