Testing Muscles (arm) Flashcards

1
Q

how can you test the function of the biceps brachii and its innervation

A

biceps depp tendon reflex
nerve supply= musculocutaneous nerve C5 and C6

placing the thumb on the biceps tendon (within cubital fossa)and then striking thumb with a tendon hammer, will cause contraction and stretch at the elbow

Q

what is the innervation of the forearm muscles

A

all median nerve except flexor carpi ulnaris (digits 4 and 5) and the median part of flexor digitorum profundus which are supplied by the ulnar nerve

weak extension of the arm at the shoulder joint and extension of the forearm of the elbow joint

17
Q

what are the actions of the muscles in the superficial later of the posterior forearm

A

attach to the common extensor tendon, extend the fingers and wrist

18
Q

what is the actions of the extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis

A

extends and abducts the wrists
