President Trump said, “For years, we’ve been having ‘crazy trade’ with China, causing us to lose $500 billion every year. This can’t go on. Tariffs will bring more wealth to America. Tariffs will make America ‘stronger’.”
트럼프 대통령은 중국산 제품에 추가 관세를 부과해 얻은 돈으로 미국 농산물을 사서 해외 원조에 쓸 것이라고 했다.
President Trump also stated that the US will buy American agricultural products with the money raised from imposing additional tariffs on Chinese products, and then use it for overseas aid.

This move is in retaliation to the US’s tariff increase on Chinese imports.
