Surveillance and Testing System SATS Flashcards
TRA00275
What system components does SATS provide diagnostics for?
PPS Comparators
Contact-to-Logic level Converter Modules
2/3 Logic Modules
Div Logic Modules
Reactor Mode Selector Switch
Rod Clutch Coil Controller (RCCC) Logic Circuits
Is SATS safety-related?
No. SATs auto function can instead be done manually if malfunctioning.
Where is SATS powered from?
Commercial Power E390. (1st basement)
Draw the SATS interface.
What is the impact of SATS testing on PPS?
SATS testing does not inhibit PPS to respond to an event, nor does it contribute to reactor shutdown.
Where are the SATS interface units located?
The 4 SATS interface units are located in each PPS room.
What types of signal comm paths are used by SATS?
Type A - apply and remove PPS test voltages
Type B - data transfer path from PPS to SATS
Type C - request a computer interrupt
What components separate SATS inputs/outputs from PPS?
Buffer Amplifiers
How often must functional channel testing be performed on PPS?
Every 48 hours
How does EFIS vessel level inoperability impact SATS?
Tripping vessel level system (EFIS/PPS vessel level) render SATS unable to meet TSR requirements.
Why is isolation required from PPS during SATS computer system startup?
Spurious signals generated during computer power-up can cause an inadvertent reactor scram.
What is the SATS room temperature limit?
85F
What date sensitivity impacts SATS?
Y2K sensitive (unsure if this is still the case after upgrade)
What is the PPS signal latch response time?
27 msec (SATS is faster than this, which is why it does not cause a trip)
What are the two modes of SATS TESTA program?
AUTO - automatically tests PPS system by executing the complete SATS test series.
SINGLE - executes a specified test number.
What is the purpose of SATS Initial Status Tests?
Determines which mode the reactor is operating in.
What is he purpose of SATS Instrument Subsystem Tests?
Checks analog comparator will trip at setpoint and operability of analog and contact to logic level converter.
Ensures that channel trip will be seen by all 2/3 logic modules.
Also verifies that no PPS module failure is causing a false request for a trip
What is the SATS Logic Test?
checks all combination of trip/resets to 2/3 logic module, div logic modules, and RCCC to ensure operation is correct
What are SATS Final Status Tests?
similar to initial status tests. Also perform initial and final data comparisons to ensure everything remains within tolerance.
What is the SATS Flow Coast Down Test (FLOW)?
Run while shutting down last primary pump.
Collects AC/DC ECP flows. 700 samples taken one second apart.
What is the SATS Temperature Coast Down Test (TEMPS)?
Run at scram time to monitor temp decay curves of Rx.
4 Quad DTs
Reactor inlet and outlet temps
700 samples taken one second apart.
What three SATS setpoint plateaus are there?
Two-pump
Three-pump
Depressurized
What exception exists for EFIS vessel instruments concerning SATS?
EFIS Vessel Pressure instruments are not required in depressurized shutdown or operation and may be bypassed when irradiated fuel is removed from the vessel.
What is the definition of Irradiated Fuel?
Fuel element after operation in the core with Rx power >20 kW unless the FE has been shown to have decay heat generation <30W.
When does Shutdown PPS Checkout DOP not apply?
DOP 2.7.26 does not apply when <2 PCPs are operating.
When must EFIS vessel level alarms or PPS vessel alarms be operable?
EFIS/PPS Vessel alarms must be operable with EFIS in manual and irradiated fuel elements in the vessel.
