Q

How does 674-M-6 auto-start UV circuitry work?

A

TRA-609 UV relays for TRA-609 breakers 52-1 and 52-2
Relays sense normal voltage at 623-E-101 A and B for TRA-623 2400V switchgear.
If power is interrupted and drops to 70% or less of nominal voltage, the UV relays in 609 de-energize and M-6 starts.
Will supply power within 20 seconds to TRA-609 commercial bus

  1. ALL (Normal)
  2. BLDG 609
  3. GEN BUS
52
Q

Describe M-6 TPS Switch ALL Mode Operation

A

M-6 EDG picks up any bus that loses power
If both buses lose power, M-6 will pick up both buses
If one bus loses power while the other is supplied by diesel, M-6 will pick up that bus in conjunction with the current one.

53
Q

Describe M-6 TPS Switch BLDG 609 Mode Operation

A

LOSS OF UTILITY AREA COMM POWER:
1. M-6 EDG will supply power to utility area commercial/diesel bus
2. Upon return of comm power and bkr 52-1 is opened allowing M-6 EDG to go into cooldown cycle
3. If 670-E-3 loses power while M-6 EDG is carrying 609, M-6 will NOT pick up ATR diesel bus
LOSS OF ATR 4160V E-3:
1. M-6 EDG will supply E-3
2. If power lost to 609 comm bus, M-6 EDG will DROP E-3 and pick up 609

54
Q

Describe M-6 TPS Switch GEN BUS Mode Operation

A

LOSS OF ATR 4160V E-3
1. M-6 EDG automatically starts and load E-3
2. Upon return of comm power, parallel comm with M-6 and transfer load
3. Shutdown
4. Engine goes into 5 minute cooldown then stops
5. If comm power lost to 2400V switchgear in 609 while M-6 EDG is supplying E-3, 609 will remain energized
LOSS OF UTILITY AREA COMM POWER:
1. Gen will supply power to the utility area comm/diesel bus
2. Upon return of comm power, M-6 EDG will automatically go into 5-minute cooldown/shutdown cycle
3. If power lost to E-3 while M-6 is carrying utility load, M-6 will drop utility and pick up E-3.

55
Q

A

In AUTO:
1. 52-G M-6 output bkr
2. 52-25 Feeder to E-3
3. 52-2 feeder to 609
All automatically operate
In MAN:
Loss of power would still result in M-6 starting, however 52-G would not close in to provide power to E-3 or 609

56
Q

Describe the M-6 DG Starting Sequence

A
  1. Run Relay starts Radiator Fan and Open Louvres
  2. Crank Cycle Timer allows engine crank for 10 seconds/off for 15 seconds and repeat up to 85 seconds (at which point overcrank alarm would actuate)
  3. Once engine reaches 10% rated speed, crank termination relay and oil pressure timer pick up
  4. Governor and voltage reg bring engine up to rated V/F
  5. 52-G ready to be closed
