Describe the operation of the Crankcase Exhaust Blower for 670-M-43 DG.
Takes suction from crankcase, discharge to turbo inlet.
Blower control switch in AUTO: start when L.O. pressure reaches 25 psig, can be started in Manual, runs for 5 minutes after SD.
Bypass for crankcase is used to adjust vacuum, directs flow around the blower.
Vacuum oil separator allows removal of entrained oil.
What is the purpose of cylinder compression cocks on the M-43 DG?
Used to vent cylinders prior to starting engine.
What is the purpose of the Pneumatic Barring Device?

What is the purpose of the M-43 rollback relief valve?
On shut down, the engine coasts to a stop then typically rolls back to its final resting position. This small amount of rollback provides several revolutions on the lube oil pump in the reverse direction. Since there is a foot valve in the sump, this section of pipe would be pressurized without this relief present.
What is the normal purpose of the M-43 auxiliary lube oil pump M-49?
Establishes lube oil flow and pressure prior to diesel engine startup. Removes residual heat after shutdown.
What is the AOP use of M-43 auxiliary lube oil pump M-49?
If M-43 pressure is below alarm setpoint of 40 psig or supercharger oil pressure is below alarm setpoint of 22 psig, with M-43 still running, AOP-12.2 directs operator to start aux lube oil pump in HAND
What is the power supply for the M-43 auxiliary lube oil pump M-49?
M-49 aux lube oil pump is powered from diesel/commercial MCC 670-E-15.
Describe M-43 DG lube oil temperature control.
L.O. TCV-12-2B (3-way) controlled by TIC-12-2B. Controls oil flow around or through the L.O. heat exchanger.
Temp switch TIS-12-1B monitors temp and actuates at 190F.
What is the purpose of M-43 L.O. Recirc Pump M-53?
Constant filtering of lube oil through the recirculation filter.
What is the power supply for M-43 L.O. Recirc Pump M-53?
M-53 is powered by 670-E-11.
Describe the operation of M-43 LO Recirc Pump M-53.
Starts after diesel is started when oil temp reaches 150F. Must be restarted manually on loss and subsequent restoration of diesel power. Normally operates as long as the diesel is running.
Give the two automatic engine shutdowns for M-43 DG.
- Low LO Pressure (35 psig)
- Overspeed (396-424 RPM)
Give the three M-43 DG Manual Shutdowns.
- Load Limit knob on governor (Closes fuel rack when rotated to 0)
- Manual shutdown lever
- Emergency shutdown lever (panel TR-12-2)
