A

N-16 to GSW X-tie. Aligns N-16 pump discharge to GSW pump discharge. Valve normally closed with blind flange installed.

40
Q

What are the purposes of the Warm Seal Water System?

A

1) Supply HP water to rotating seals and reactor tank penetrations located in remote areas where primary water leakage would be less of a problem than seals supplied by GSW.
2) Secured during outages when PCS is depressurized and bypass demin isolated.
3) Pumps started during PCS startup when pressure >150 psig and bypass demin has been placed in service.

41
Q

Draw WSW One-Line

A
42
Q

What is the discharge flow/pressure for WSW Pumps?

A

Take suction from return line of bypass demin and discharge 60 GPM at 420 psig.

43
Q

How is WSW pressure controlled?

A

Pumps discharge flows through strainers to DPCV-9-7, which controls pressure to 120 psig over reactor outlet pressure and supplies WSW Stations 5/6/10/12 and bottom head flush.

44
Q

Describe WSW Booster Pumps.

A

Safety rod snubber tube flush supply. Normally 13 GPM.

49
Q

What is the purpose of WSW Station 12?

A

Neck Shim drives Housing Seals. Normal flow is 1 GPM on each rod seal. High flow is indication of seal leakage.

50
Q

What is the purpose of WSW Bottom Head Flush?

A

Prevents sediment build-up on the reactor bottom head. Normally 40 GPM.

51
Q

How does Bottom Head Flush flow enter the reactor vessel?

A

Bottom head flush enters RV through the NE Bottom Head Emergency Fire Water Injection 2-inch pipe.

52
Q

How does GSW respond to ESF-1 or ESF-4?

A

High inlet pressure ESF trips GSW Pumps.
Pump restart is prevented until the condition is cleared and the ESF relays have been reset at the P-11 panel in the RCR or at the ESF cabinets in the switchgear room.

53
Q

How does GSW respond to loss of commercial power (ERP-0.3)?

A

If in normal lineup, operating pump selected to Diesel will continue to operate.
If in alternate lineup, operating pump selected to Diesel will continue to operate.
GSW alarms will be received as the GSW DP control valve and PCS respond to changes in pressure from Primary Coolant Pump loss and restart.

54
Q

How does WSW respond to loss of commercial power (ERP-0.3)?

A

WSW Pumps are powered from E-15 and should not be impacted from a loss of commercial power regardless of the electrical lineup.
WSW alarms will be received as the WSW dpcv and the PCS respond to changes in pressure from PCP loss and restart.

55
Q

How does GSW respond to a loss of Diesel power (ERP-0.4)?

A

Running GSW pump will stop and standby will start when pump pressure drops to 405 psig.
Various GSW flow and pressure alarms will be received.

56
Q

How does WSW respond to a loss of Diesel power (ERP-0.4)?

A

Diesel comm bus will experience a momentary loss of power and so both warm seal booster pumps will be inop until E-15 is energized from E-7 through E-228.
Standby pump will start once diesel comm power is restored and the dp between reactor outlet pressure and DPCV-9-7 drops to 80 psid.
Various alarms.

57
Q

How does GSW respond to a loss of Comm and Diesel Power (ECAP-0)?

A

If on normal alignment, diesel selected operating pump will continue to run on 480V diesel UPS battery power until batteries are depleted.
Power will be unavailable to both the operating and standby GSW pumps until a power source is restored.
Battery powered ECP will be operating without the benefit of GSW lubrication to seals.

58
Q

How does WSW respond to ECAP-0?

A

Operating WSW Pump will continue to operate on battery until depleted.

59
Q

How does GSW respond to loss of IA (AOP-6.1)?

A

LCV-1-3C degas tank to GSW feed will fail shut.
FCV-8-129 GSW Feed Tank fill valve will fail shut.
DPCV-9-5 will fail open.
PCV-9-15 will fail open.
If PPS in pressurized mode, op GSW pump will stop, and standby will be locked out by PPS hi inlet pressure ESF trip until relays are manually reset.

60
Q

How does WSW respond to loss of IA (AOP-6.1)?

A

Standby warm seal water booster pump will start automatically.
DPCV-9-7 fails open.
Both operating warm seal water booster pumps must be secured.

61
Q

Draw one-line of combined GSW/WSW system.

A
